HOW LONG ARE LESSONS?

Private voice lessons are for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or an hour. Students preparing for NYSSMA or auditions need the 45 minute or hour lessons, since they will be working on sight singing and/or performance skills.

HOW OFTEN?

Generally, students take lessons once a week, and practice vocal exercises and songs at home in between lessons. Beginning students in particular, whether children, teens, or adults, do best with weekly lessons in order to establish healthy singing habits. NYSSMA students need to come weekly as well.

HOW MUCH?

My rates for voice lessons are reasonable and competitive. I offer individual and group rates (for groups of up to 4 students who choose to take lessons together). Please call for specifics.

ARE SHORT-TERM LESSONS AVAILABLE?

If you are a beginning or intermediate singer, it is usually best to study voice for a solid length of time in order to establish healthy singing habits. Advanced and more experienced singers can sometimes have more flexibility in scheduling lessons.

WHAT ABOUT NYSSMA?

I offer extensive NYSSMA preparation, including song selection, vocal development, performance skills, and sightsinging. I am an experienced NYSSMA Adjudicator (judge), and my voice students routinely receive scores of Outstanding or Excellent. Some students have gone on to All-State competitions. NYSSMA students should begin in September of the preceding year in order to allow optimal time for sight singing and song preparation/performance.

CAN I TRY IT OUT?

I offer a free trial lesson of 45 minutes so you can experience what I do and who I am prior to making a commitment to voice lessons. This gives students an opportunity to ask questions and see if I meet their needs and goals.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A VOICE LESSON?

Lessons are individually tailored for the student. All lessons include singing exercises, which are crucial to vocal development. They also include learning and performing songs, acting, sight-singing, or audition preparation, depending on student needs.
